I’m going to tap into my crazy cat lady for a minute. I’m in love with ModKat. I’ve been looking for something like this for ages, and I’m glad that I’ve finally found it. A top entrance litter box – to reduce the amount of liter being tracked through the house; A reusable, washable, eco-friendly liner (this is BIG); A design that doesn’t scream “I’m a litterbox!” (or like my current box, “I’m this oddly shaped mini alien spacecraft you just can’t help but notice and are mildly disturbed by!”)
Yes, I just got excited about a litterbox – don’t judge! Ok, fine, judge. Now to just wait impatiently for late Summer ‘ 09 for it to be released into the world.

See, I’m a little wary. I am not sure my cats could figure the damn thing out! (Well, Desmond could, but Oz? I dunno!) I did see some interesting lifehack custom litterboxes online somewhere recently, let’s see. Here was one and here was another.

My sister has one of the first gen top entrance litter boxes and she thought the same thing – they all caught on.
I really like the first hack. I refuse to put the litter box in the bathroom, ever again. Being barefoot and stepping on tiny pieces of liter as you step out of the shower or get ready for bed is frustrating/gross.

That’s awesome! I can see how that would totally solve the problem. Although, might be an issue for my older 3-legged cat. When she gets sore, even the higher profile litter box is a problem. But for healthy young cats, this is wonderful! And it’s neat looking.

And the waterproof, washable & reusable liner. Regular liners get shredded to bits within hours and aren’t necessarily eco-friendly.

We were, for a long time, using there recycled thick trash bags as liners and they were often barely ripped up! But then I couldn’t find them anymore.
I have one cat that would probably like this, but I think cat number two who hates jumping on our very low-slung couch would hate it. He is so lazy.
